"Business Structure"
On Monday, on our Blogtalkradio show we were able to talk about a topic that has become very popular among the US population “Small Businesses/ Home Based Businesses”. A great deal of people now-a-days have been laid-off or plain fired from their jobs; however, these people have decided to open up their own small businesses. These individuals have taken the opportunity of becoming Independent contractors/ Entrepreneurs.
We would have to say that it is great to know that more and more people are venturing out into becoming their own “BOSS”. We would also like to praise all of those that have managed to maintain their small businesses during this tight economy we are ALL going through.
This particular blog is dedicated to all of those individuals that have great Business Ideas but do not know where to start. In a nutshell, you just need to get organized, start at the beginning, step by step.
Lets start your business structure, please remember that we are not attorneys nor tax advisors. We will suggest that you consult your Accountant for more tax specific questions. Now lets get started:
- 1-Decide what type of business you want to get into.
- 2-Find a Name (Short, Sweet and to the Point). Make sure your business name has the concept that you want people to know you for.
- 3-Find out with your advisor what type of Business structure is more convenient for you, ei. Corporation, Partnership, Sole Proprietorship or LLC.
- 4-Once you have your company set up, you can get your EIN# (SS4 Form- Apply online).
- 5-Get a Phone Line /Fax (You can get a PC Fax # (http://www.fax.com/) (It’s very affordable).
- 6-Get a Website (http://www.godaddy.com/) (Extremely affordable).
- 7-Get a Bank Account, so all your business expenses can be properly deducted and your accountant will not yell at you at the end of the year.
- 8-Get Practical Business cards.
- 9-Plan out your marketing strategy and budget (*This is one of the most important part of your business).
- 10-Take Action and start promoting your Business- Talk to as many people about your business as possible.
- 11- Keep your Overhead in the low.
- 12- Network (Find out local & community luncheons and breakfasts).
- 13- HAVE FUN!!!
We hope that our advise helps you in organizing your business. We understand that you can customize your business however you desire. Remember, this is your business and only you are responsible for making it a successful one.
